Watch our video itineraries as we explore this coffee triangle town in Colombia for one week. We show you where to stay, see, eat and drink in Salento – home to the amazing Cocora Valley. Fly from Bogota to Pereira and take the bus to Salento. We loved the day long hike through Colombian countryside and river valley to the heights and sights of the famous wax palms.
Salento is an Andean town in Colombia, west of Bogotá. It’s known for its coffee estates and verdant scenery. East is Cocora Valley where lofty wax palm trees, a national symbol, are home to rare parrots. The town is a gateway to the snow-capped peaks of Los Nevados National Natural Park, to the northeast. In Salento, Calle Real has colourful buildings and craft shops. [google] MAP
